The minimalist and sparkling compositions of Ludovico Einaudi have toured the world and seduced the film industry. His works have proved themselves to be thrilling, seductive, elegant, meditative and often introspective. The music both captivates and moves the listener. It’s no coincidence that the music of this pianist-composer fascinates cinemagoers the world over; Einaudi’s powers to evoke and attract are irresistible. With melodies that simultaneously overwhelm and restore, it’s no surprise that his most recent album has met with immediate success worldwide.

From Nanni Moretti (Aprile in 1998) to Xavier Dolan (with Mommy in 2014), through the smash French hit Untouchable, Einaudi’s sweet epic melodies are unrivalled in their ability to arouse such a range of emotions, from the depths of despair to the heights of ecstasy.

“Elements” takes inspiration from the precision of mathematical elements, and the order of the periodic table – but was also influenced by the works of Kandinsky, Klee and Klimt. Recorded in his own home in Piedmont, and with the artwork for the first time conceived and designed by Einaudi himself, this album is very much an expression of the artist’s own personal creative process. Somewhere between Arvo Part, Brian Eno, Erik Satie and Steve Reich, our Italian belongs to, and makes an undeniable case for, the “less is more” mantra.
