YILIAN CAÑIZARES PAYS TRIBUTE TO HER ANCESTORS, BETWEEN JAZZ AND AFRO-CUBAN MUSIC. MESMERIZING !

ON TOUR – SUMMER FESTIVALS 2019

Full concert list

The gifted singer and violinist Yilian Cañizares‘ latest album fully expresses her Afro-Cuban and Jazz influences. “Invocación” is as fascinating and passionate as this virtuoso musician herself. Yilian loves to go back to her Cuban roots but refuses to be locked into stereotypes. She pulls us into her eclectic musical world, which navigates between tradition and modernity, lyricism and spellbinding rhythms.
Trained in the inner circle of Cuban music and taught by a demanding Classical Russian teacher, Yilian Cañizares has brought together a solid team to accompany her for this second album: produced by Alê Siqueira (Roberto Fonseca, Omara Portuondo, Mayra Andrade); the jazz hip-hop poet Akua Naru guests on a Yoruba-style track and Daniel Stawinski (piano), David Brito (double bass) and Cyril Regamey (drums) round off the line-up.

For her Paris concert on January 21st, 2017 at the Jazz Magazine Festival, Naive re-released a deluxe digital version of her album with two new remixes by BLVK SAMURAI, a producer and beat maker from New Orleans: Beroni Abebe Osun (BLVK SAMURAI remix) et Toi Mon Amour (BLVK SAMURAI remix).

“The singer-violinist from Havana based in Switzerland, weaves together with energy and sensitivity, the influences of her island and inspiration from elsewhere.
LIBERATION

“… the young woman radiates grace on stage. And is also very talented…”
SO JAZZ

“A unique musical universe, jazzy and radiant, lyrical and ethereal, that puts you in the mood to travel.”
BIBA

“Abundant with ideas and holding back somewhat the virtuosity which undoubtedly frees itself on stage. Invocación does not hide its desire to seduce and achieves that goal effortlessly.”
